Q. If I purchase an AFA Fire Alarm System, is AFA the only company that can service my system?
A. No. We do not install proprietary Fire Alarm Systems. This means another authorized dealer could service your system. However, we recommend that you consider AFA for your service needs given our familiarity with the equipment and competitive value.
Q. Does AFA provide Inspection and Maintenance?
A. Yes. Depending on your type of system and your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements, we can provide inspections and maintenance. Please take a moment to contact us at your local AFA branch to provide you with a
"complimentary" quotation for our services.
Q. What happens when I call the Central Monitoring Center and place my account on test?
A. While your account is on test all signals transmitted to the Central Monitoring Center are automatically logged in the history of the account; the Central Monitoring Center operators take no action while the system is in test. Your system should still sound and function locally.
IN THE EVENT OF AN ACTUAL FIRE WHILE YOUR SYSTEM IS IN THE TEST MODE, YOU MUST NOTIFY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY.
Q. If I call the Central Monitoring Center and place my account on test, how long will it remain on test?
A. The system will stay in test status for eight (8) hours unless you call the Central Monitoring Center and end the test earlier.
Q. Can I put my system into the test status without talking to an Operator?
A. Yes. Using a touch-tone phone, you can use your pass code to automatically put your system into and out of test status. Contact your local AFA branch for more information about AutoTest.
Q. I received an Alarm System Passcard from your company. What is it for?
A. An alarm System Passcard provides you with authorization to make changes to your alarm account information.
Q. How do I obtain a Passcard?
A. An authorized person on your account must request one through a fax, letter or an email to your local AFA branch.
Q. When was my last fire alarm inspection? When is my next fire alarm inspection?
A. All inspection records are kept at your local AFA branch. Contact them for any information.
Q. How often should I test my fire alarm system?
A. The National Fire Protection Association sets recommendations on testing procedures and frequency of both Residential and Commercial Fire Alarm Systems. However, your local
Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and your insurance provider may have different requirements. Contact your local AFA branch for more information.
Q. Is AFA capable of installing Fiber Optic CCTV systems?
A. Yes.
